Third Grade Student Challenges

I am so proud of all the students
who completed various Student Challenges
throughout the school year. Bravo!

Chicago-opoly

As a culminating activity for our Chicago Unit in social studies, students each selected and researched a famous Chicago landmark. After synthesizing their notes into a descriptive paragraph students created a "Chicago-opoly" game board featuring the paragraphs and drawings for each landmark. Today students had the exciting opportunity to play the life-sized game! The students and teachers all learned many new facts!

6 Days Left of School

To celebrate 6 days left we played a competitive, yet fun, game of Name That Tune! Songs ranged from movie theme songs and popular songs on the radio, to video game themes and even our Dryden School song!

4.   Shake the bottle and empty it into the bowl.

5.   Dump another bottle of glue into the water.

6.   Measure ½ cup of water and using the funnel, pour it into the empty glue bottle.

12.     Measure one cup of hot water and pour it into the large mixing bowl.

13.     Measure one more cup of hot water and pour it into the large mixing bowl.

14.     Measure one teaspoon of Borax and pour it into the large mixing bowl.

15.     Measure one more teaspoon of Borax and pour it into the large mixing bowl.

16.     Stir the water and Borax mixture until the Borax has completely dissolved.

17.      Slowly and carefully pour the green glue and water mixture into the Borax and water mixture.

18.     Scrape out the glue bowl with the spatula.

19.     Slowly and carefully begin stirring the green glue, Borax, water mixture. Lift up the spatula every few stirs to show the class what is happening.

20.  Reach into the mixture with your hands! Try pulling it all out and putting it into an empty bowl.

Final Art Appreciation

Students enjoyed their final Art Appreciation lesson today! They reviewed the four main artists and their artworks that were studied throughout the year. They then played a fun game of Jeopardy to test their knowledge and memory.

12 Days of School Left

To celebrate 12 days left the students received the opportunity to catapult mini-marshmallows. They were allowed to choose to fire them at one another or at their teacher!
