Count Down!

We celebrated 6 days left and the beginning of June
by having the students choose their own seats.
This is an interesting arrangement!

In celebration of 7 days left my turtle, Kosmo, came to school.
The students learned about his adaptations and how box turtles survive in the wild.

We celebrated 8 days left by making summer fortune tellers.
What does the summer have in store for you?!?

To celebrate 9 days left, the class had some races
outdoors and then played a game of Infection.

To celebrate 10 days left, students chose new names that they wanted to be called for the day!
There sure were some silly ones!

In celebration of 11 days left and Brandon's love for using pens,
students were each given a pen to write with for the entire day!
I have never seen such colorful spelling tests! :)

To celebrate 12 days left, students played a two fun new games
called "Good Morning Teacher" and "Who's Missing?"

We celebrated 13 days left by dropping everything and dancing whenever the music came on!

We celebrated 14 days left by having an extra recess in the afternoon.
It was a perfectly beautiful day for it too!

To celebrate 15 days left the students received the opportunity to catapult mini-marshmallows. They were allowed to choose to either fire them at one another or at their teacher!

To celebrate 16 days left the students were encouraged to sit comfortably. Some chose to lounge on pillows, while others opted for backwards chairs or even reclining back with their feet up!

To celebrate 17 days left each student received a No Homework Pass!

To celebrate 18 days left we created a batch of slime!
We watched science in action and learned all about polymerization.
This slime is easy to make when it wants to cooperate.
The students brought home a recipe, but this one seems to work a bit better:

Mix 1/2 cup water and 1/2 cup white glue.
Mix these really well and then add some food coloring.
In a separate cup, combine 1 cup water and 1 tsp. Borax.
Stir until the Borax is dissolved.
Then, pour the Borax mixture and the glue mixture into a large zip-lock bag.
Mix well until the slime is the right consistency!

To celebrate 19 days left we all made, decorated, and wore silly paper hats!

It is hard to believe that there are so few days left in the school year. To help celebrate our final days in third grade, the students are popping balloons to find out what fun activity we will be doing in class each day!
