Margaret's Adventures with Swinger

The Aventures with Swinger and Me
By Margaret

Swinger and I had a great weekend. First we went  to my sister's soccer game. We were cheering as loud as a cannon and it really helped because Beth scored a goal! Swinger was a big help for Beth. He was our lucky charm.

Swinger and I raked up the biggest leaf pile in the history of leaf piles! Swinger raked, but then he was sweating so I tied him to the landpost. He had a great time climbing. Then we took a big jump into the leaf pile. There were so many leaves I almost couldn't find him!

I had a special treat for Swinger. My sisters and I made banana bread for Swinger. Swinger loved the banana bread. He thought it was the best in the world!

Swinger had a great time with me and my family!

Macy M.'s Adventures with Swinger

The Great Adventure With Swinger

Swinger and I had a lot of fun this long weekend. When we got home I gave him a bath. I put the water on warm, then plugged the drain, and tossed him in. I got him all wet. I shampooed him and then put him back in the water to wash all the shampoo out. Now he is all clean for Fall Fest. But he was still wet, so I swaddled him up in a towel. When we got to Fall Fest Swinger watched me play all the games. Then Swinger was getting tired so we had to go home. I made Swinger a bed. First I took my mini cradle and placed a comfy towel in it. Then I put Swinger in the bed and put another towel on top for a blanket. Then I picked out a stuffed baby monkey and tucked it in Swinger’s arms.

On Monday Swinger refused to help me clean my room. Instead he sat on the bed and watched me pick it up. Then Swinger helped me rake leaves. I put him in the pile of leaves until he was so covered in leaves you could not see him.

Will's Adventures with Flipper

The Adventures of Flipper and Will
By Will Wascher

On Friday night, Flipper and I went to an Indian Guides meeting. We had tons of fun! Flipper and I climbed the tree house ladder with our tribe. Since my father and I are the big and little chiefs, that made Flipper Chief Penguin. On Saturday morning, Flipper and I had to wake up early to go with our friends to Midtown to run in a 5K race for the Chicago Bears. Flipper thought it was cool to see so many people running. We were so fast that we earned a ribbon! On Sunday morning, Flipper was snoring so loud that he woke me up like an alarm clock. Flipper helped us make breakfast. We had eggs and donuts. Flipper really liked the chocolate donuts the best! For the rest of the day, Flipper and I played outside with our friends. Before bed we had a little time left to watch some football on T.V. It was a great weekend!

The students were introduced to two new subtraction methods today: trade first and counting up. Below are directions for solving each type of problem.
