Student Techspert: Victoria

On Thursday it was too cold so we stayed inside and played
Twister. It was so fun, and all of  the people kept on falling on
each other and tangling together. It was so funny to watch too.
We had so much fun that all the kids said they wanted to stay in for recess again!

This is how some of the boys kept on falling on each other
and tangling together.

On Thursday we also had Art Appreciation
where Macy's mom came and told us about an artist
and we also had to draw our own hands and the details.
It was so hard!

On Friday today, we had crazy hair day
this is how the boys looked they had Crazy Hair!

This is how the girls looked on Crazy Hair Day
we had crazy hair!

On the student challenge we had to make tops. The teacher
showed us how it looked for the kids who didn't do it in the normal
and colorful.

January Student Challenge

Eight students completed the January Student Challenge!
(Jake, Margaret, Taylor, Kaitlyn, Victoria, Maya, Ria, and Macy M.)

Today in class I demonstrated the challenge for the entire class. They were shocked by the tricks their eyes played on them. Please ask your child to share what he or she learned from this experience.

Kayleigh's Adventures with Swinger

My Long Weekend with Swinger
By: Kayleigh

When Swinger got to my house we watched Radio Rebel. Then we read chapter 23 of Out of My Mind. Next, Swinger took a bath in the washing machine and then dried off in the dryer. After that Swinger and I put on music and had a dance party. Then we watched the Bulls game with my dad. We also did a puzzle with my mom. Then we had a very late dinner.

The next day we all had breakfast with Swinger and all he ate were bananas. After breakfast, Swinger and I played spies. After that Swinger and I did another puzzle with my mom. Then we had lunch. We went to the park and after that we watched TV for the rest of the time until dinner. We all went to bed early.

On Sunday for breakfast we had banana bread. Swinger ate the most. Then we went to church. After church, Swinger and I went to my grandma’s house and stayed until dinner. Then, we peeled, cut, and mashed potatoes. (which mom cooked) After dinner we watched National Treasure 2.

On Monday we had pizza and a fire in the fireplace. We also watched the Bulls game.

On Tuesday I guess I didn’t keep Swinger busy enough because I found Swinger in the office watching Curious George. (probably because of Erin)

The highlight of Swinger’s trip was seeing Sunny again!

Taylor's Adventures with Little Blue

Fun Times with Little Blue
By: Taylor

Friday night Little Blue and I watched Don’t Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus. Little Blue and I fell asleep upside down. On Saturday, Little Blue played Wii with me. He also took little baths. Little Blue sat in the soapy cup. When he was wrapped in the towel, he looked like a taco. Then he went to bed with me. On Sunday, he went to Lacrosse with me. I learned how to pick up the ball and how to pass and shoot. We played Big Monkey and Little Blue won. For lunch we went to Noodles and Company. We also read a book. He made a video for the class to see. Then Nathan gave Little Blue a piggyback ride and we went to sleep with Nathan, Payton, and Reese. But before we fell asleep, Little Blue snuck the last coconut.

Jack's Adventures with Swinger

Swinger’s Adventures with Jack

Swinger and I woke up got dressed then we went to the bathroom to brush 0ur teeth.  Next we went down stairs to get breakfast. Swinger and I had bacon, eggs, and toast. After we ate my mom said we are going to get new furniture so my mom rented a cargo van. But first, my older cousin, Ryan, who is 17 and in High School at Prospect, helped us move out our epic sized wooden desk into the cargo van.  Swinger got a sweet ride on top of the desk as we moved it out of the house and into the van.  It took me, my mom and Ryan to lift the desk (and Swinger) helped we finally got it in the van. Then we hopped in the back, it was really bumpy when the biggest bump came swinger flew and hit the roof of the van thankfully I caught him. When we arrived at my aunt’s house we lifted the desk into her home.

Later I was hungry so my mom and I went Culvers.  I had cheese bugger and fries but swinger wasn’t hungry, in fact, he was a little queasy from the bumpy ride.  Then we went to pick up the new furniture my mom ordered.   We picked up the seven pieces of furniture then we headed home with the van loaded to the gills.

Today swinger and I went to laser tag my name was ace the first round.  In the second round I was Yoda.  I got tagged 26 times and I tagged 28 times. Then we went in the party room for some tasty pizza and sodas.  I was so sweaty and hot that it took two Gatorades to cool me off.  I had two cup cakes then we went home.

I think that Swinger enjoyed watching me play with my friends.  I also know that Swinger is looking forward to his next adventure with one of my classmates.

Light Observations

This week we began our new science unit on light. The students have been eager about participating in this hands-on unit. We have already been exploring a variety of light sources and tried to make our classroom as dark as possible by covering up every bit of light that is entering the room.

Today the students explored light beams using a flashlight, laser pointer, and cup of cloudy water. They recorded their observations on iPods, which we watched during class.
